FOREST WALKS

There’s no simpler way to get outdoors than going for a walk. Depending on how much time you want to spend outside equipment needs can be minimal and planning as simple as finding and following a path.

Around Hakuba no matter which direction you take you’ll quickly find yourself in the forest, or even by a river or lake.. We’ve collected a few forest walks to try around Hakuba this summer, so you can get a good dose of nature whether you are after something short and sweet to a longer day hike with a bit of elevation thrown in.

HIRAKAWA RIVER

A short 10 minute walk south from Echoland will bring you to Hirakawa River.  The river course is very mellow and is about 3km long from top to bottom. If it is a warm day then dip your feet into the cold waters.

KIKORI-NO-MORI TRAILS

Theses trails  can vary in mellowness and steepness depending on how far and deep you want to go into the forest east the Himekawa River and Green Sports Park. It’s easy to lose track of time in here but a 2-3 hour loop out to the suspension bridge at Green Sports seems to be the most popular.

IWATAKE

Either climb up or take the gondola to access nature trails. Beware the trail up is hard! Make sure you have a coffee at the awesome City Bakery
